This series is so special to me! It is 5 acrylic paintings custom created for The Secret Place home located on the Emerald Coast of Florida (https://thesecretplacehome.org). The people and hearts behind this home are incredible. It will be a refuge for girls who are between the ages of 12-17 that have been rescued out of sex trafficking. The fact that there are girls that young being sold and used up for sex is unreal to me, but what God does through people brings me so much hope! I am honored to have been asked to do these paintings that will hang in the bedrooms of The Secret Place home. Each piece has been prayed over, and as I wrote the descriptions, I could feel the weight of God’s love for each of the girls. This is a season of new growth for you! We can’t always see what God is doing, but he never wastes our pain, our time, or our lives. This painting, called “Thriving” is giving you a glimpse of your future in Him. It is full of hope and redemption! While we wait for things to change, we can “water” the seeds he has planted by staying in His presence, praying, and reading his Word. All of these things combined will give us the power we need to go through seasons of change, waiting, and growth!

Series: The Secret Place
God is a protector and he wants to keep you safe. This painting is about rest. It may feel hard for you to rest because you have had to take care of and defend yourself. But, the beauty of God is that he loves you, he covers you, and he will keep you safe as you rest in Him. In this painting, the girl is shaded under some beautiful almond trees, and is putting her tired feet in the cool water. She has had a long journey, but she finds safety and peace in this little oasis, so she stops and gets refreshed.

This painting is about peace in the middle of change. Transitions can be hard & sometimes scary, but God is carrying you through this phase of your life. He is moving you into a more spacious and safe place. Only the good will come with you to the other side.It’s about God’s covering over you and his heart being with you. The flowers in the boat are just a glimpse of what he will create out of your hardship. Though the things you have been through are ugly, God is making beauty out of them.
He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall.

Series: The Secret Place
In this painting, the rain represents God coming through on promises that He has made to you. Maybe it’s been a long time since you have seen answered prayers, but God is saying that he will come through. He is faithful to give you everything your heart needs. The ivy-covered house represents the secret place of prayer and as the girl comes out of that place, she sees the “rain” she has been praying for. She carries a sword that is symbolic of God’s word. She wears it by her side always, as a reminder that God will never fail her.
The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. -Isaiah 58:11 (NLT)

God is really good at carrying your burdens. Things that feel so heavy on your mind & heart. That’s what makes him a good Father. Not only is he good at carrying all your worries, he is good at carrying YOU. In this painting, the girl is being carried through the clouds in the sky. There are birds that represent angels and people that God has surrounded you with to help you. They carry lights and help guide you out of darkness. The balloons are a representation of childhood. You are allowed to be a child with God. God wants you to play and have joy, and he will give a childlike heart back to you.
And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”-Romans 8:15-16 (TPT)
