HUMILITY

In my forever long personal fight against my own pride and self-righteousness, and through a delightful season of pruning and refining fire, God had been revealing to me some things about humility. I thought I would share:

Humility is Not:
-self deprecation
-false modesty
-a constant balancing act between your flaws and your accomplishments
-a constant reminder of your flaws and failures
-self punishment
-constant guilt
-walking around ashamed and embarrassed of who you are

Humility IS:

Humility is actually a completely surrendered heart to Jesus.

Humility is laying down your will for his will.

Humility is not always needing to be right. It seeks to preserve relationships over facts and evidence.

Humility is being willing to do anything and everything God calls you to-without questioning his character or his goodness.

Humility is giving yourself grace because you accepted the free grace of God that you know you desperately needed.

Humility is thinking of others more than you think of yourself.

Humility is actually being ok with your weaknesses because God’s power and glory is displayed through them.

Humility has no desire to compete with others, and is well rested in your identity.

Humility is showing dignity, respect, and understanding of others.

Humility is being able to accept correction and having the courage to walk out your convictions.

Humility is always looking to the future and having faith in the promises of God without over analyzing your current situation.

Humility is being childlike and in wonder, when the world tells you to be hard and cynical.

Humility is being willing to wait. Wait on God. Wait on the right circumstances.

Humility is choosing integrity even when no one is watching.

Humility is acknowledging your need for forgiveness and saying “I’m sorry” when making mistakes.

Humility is acknowledging the gifts God has given you, using them, and stewarding them according to the Word of God and for the purposes of God.

Humility tends to say “despite my insecurities, I will do what is being asked of me”.

Humility is always looking to meet the needs of others instead of always looking for how others can meet yours.

Humility is being honest and open and vulnerable.

“The source of revelation-knowledge is found as you fall down in surrender before the Lord. Don’t expect to see Shekinah glory until the Lord sees your sincere humility.”
